Sorry about the artsy fartsy picture (from Jennie Hammar)  but this is an old model and sold out everywhere except for the shi*load of shops selling cheap knock offs.

I know that Christian Louboutin was not allowed to get a patent for the red soles but somehow, seeing them on any other shoe makes me cringe a tiny bit. If it is a great looking shoe otherwise, it seems like the designer lacked the confidence in his/her own design and went for a safe card, just in case. If it looks poorly designed, the impression is lack of originality but “hey, we know what will sell among younger groups, slap on that red sole and we’ll do fine”.

Anyhow, there are a couple of conclusions to be drawn here depending on the starting point:

1. Pure laziness.To the extent of getting inspiration from a model that is a couple of seasons old, not something currently on the market.

2. Not knowing about the above mentioned Loubis. In which case, the person in question should either work for Louboutin&co (considering they seem to think extremely  similar) or not work with shoe design at all. Let’s face it, if you decide to go for the red sole to start with, you should know your homework.

But here is a question I personally thought I would never utter, considering my slightly-above-the-average shoe interest: How do you put them on?

Maybe it is just me but “black and white porcelain crystals set in silvertone metal, trimmed in clear pave crystals” does not sound like something you slide your foot into, adjust to your ankle (make it stay there!) and go dancing all night, without the slightest fear of the whole installation breaking and you not so gracefully crawling around on all four  trying to pick up the above mentioned crystals from  the dance floor.

The man who reunited me with slingbacks seems to be arranging a first date with the colour yellow as well. And as long as it shows up with 14cm stilettos, characteristically elegant Zanotti slingback lines and a platform that presents it as totally wearable without breaking your neck- I might put out on the first date. I’ll make sure I wear blood-red nail polish and a summery easy breezy dress to let my legs do all the work (for the outfit people, for the outfit).

They lines of the shoe are really elegant, the heel measures up to respect-demanding 11cm,  the bow is a lovely touch without overdoing it and first and foremost -  I love myself a dose of polka dots now and then. Adore the colours or get a migraine attack, like the style or think it is tacky, crave or hate- no matter where you stand in the question of  Prada Spring Runway Collection, I think most of you will have to agree with me that these are quite impressive to look at:

I don’t know if Prada wants to build bridges between car-interested guys and our feet or stimulate the return of retro era but this is sure a lot tail lights, metallic sleek details, flames and lipsticks as exhaust pipes, all in kitschy attention-drawing colours. It is ballsy, edgy and well-crafted – a combination expected of Prada. Also, to the collection’s big advantage, it is nothing like the hideous illusional boots from last year that I to this day hate from the bottom of my shoe loving heart .

While not being a very big fan of the red wedges in the second picture and knowing that there is no chance in hell that any of these shoes would exactly go smoothly with the rest of my wardrobe, I would not mind a pair of these babies (preferably the green wedges in the first pic) on a display shelf at home, providing a given discussion topic no matter the visitors nor the occasion. Ok, maybe I would take them for a walk now and then as well. After all, a shoe lover is a shoe lover.

1. Giggling a bit longer than humoristically acceptable to the typo Court Show, instead of Court Shoe (please let it be typo and not somebody out there that actually believes that there is a category of shoes called court show)

2. Squinting my eyes longer than it should be necessary considering  1) I don’t wear nor need glasses 2) this is a freakin’ webshop, the company trying to sell me stuff should make sure the only time I squint is to double-check my credit card details before clicking the magic purchase button, not to see the details of the actual product I’m interested in.

3. Realizing that these vaguely Casadei Structured Pump resembling heels and Christian Louboutin Duvette metal toe are a pretty neat and uncommon go at the architectural design from a high-street chain. Yellow is not my first choice when it comes to shoes but give out these in classical black, dark blue or light grey and we might be in business.

I am not sure if the ankle (and a good portion of the calf muscle?) becomes a decoratively tied up ham or sleek urban etno metallic bejeweled cherry of top of a cool outfit due to the most eminent feature of this Isabel Marant sandal – the ankle straps.

However, the unusual proportions have tickled my imagination enough for me wanting to see which way the ankle presentation swings. Considering the hipness of brand and the unusual design, the probability that I will get the chance, on some in fashion-bloggers feet featured on one of the numerous street style blogs does not seem too far fetch.

I have no idea what I would wear Carlina with because honestly she is a bit cuter than pretty much all of my wardrobe put together but somehow all these happy insects and flowers together in a mish mash kinds of make me happy. And sometimes that is more than enough for a post.

I always feel a touch of shoe fatigue when coming across a pair that is more attention demanding than fully outfitted Lady Gaga on a Sunday school class, with the painfully obvious purpose of being attention demanding. It kind of reminds me of that super buffed guy in a condom-tight bright coloured t-shirt strutting around in a night club, soaking in attention that will justify the fact that he has not smelled carbs for the last four months. Somehow, that always manages to leave me in “mah, whatever” mood. And so this as well:

But the only thing I want to do is to give them a hug and say “So, so, you are beautiful the way you are, you are a star exactly the way you are. Now go and eat some freakin’ pasta and stop pumping your platforms”
